LEED® Silver Certified
This 106,144 square feet building was renovated from 2009 – 2011. The building’s main operations are administrative and academic offices, classrooms and common use spaces.
- Many washrooms were renovated, including plumbing fixture replacement. Dual-flush toilets, low-flow urinals, and low-flow faucets were used to save water. The faucets have controls powered either by solar cells or very small water turbines.
- The exterior walls were insulated. A study was conducted prior to installation, in order to assess the impact of the modifications.
- An array of environmentally preferred products are showcased, such as: Real linoleum flooring, recycled carpet, sandstone cladding and terrazzo flooring.
- Lighting throughout the building was replaced with high efficiency fluorescent and LED technologies. Most of the lights in the building are controlled by local occupancy sensors using infrared or ultrasound technologies.
